Terms of service
Last updated 17 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Mohammed Khalid (India) for the Daybook Android app, Daybook Cloud (sync and the web app) and this website. By using them you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
1. What Daybook is — and is not
Daybook records your spending from messages your bank and payment apps send you. It is a record-keeping tool. It is not a bank, a payment service, an account aggregator or a financial adviser; it does not move money, and nothing in it is financial, tax or investment advice.
Reading messages automatically is never perfect: a bank can change its wording, a message can arrive late or not at all. Daybook may miss, misread or mis-file a transaction. Check anything that matters — a tax return, a dispute, a loan application — against your bank’s own statement.
2. The free app
The Android app is free to use without an account. It is downloaded from this website; check the fingerprint on the download page before installing, and only install Daybook from here.
3. Your Daybook Cloud account
- You must be 18 or older, and give a real email address you control.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- One account is for one person (and, on plans that say so, their household).
4. Plans, trial and payment
- A new account starts with a free trial, of the length shown when you sign up. No payment details are needed for it, and it does not turn into a paid plan unless you subscribe; when it ends, editing and sync stop until you do.
- Paid plans renew automatically every month or year through Razorpay, by UPI AutoPay or a card mandate, until cancelled. If you subscribe during the trial, the first payment is taken when the trial ends.
- Prices are shown in Indian rupees and include any GST that applies. We will email you at least 30 days before a price change affects your renewal; you can cancel before it does.
- If a renewal fails, you keep access for a grace period, shown in the web app, while it is retried. After that the plan lapses.
- A plan’s limits (such as the number of phones that can sync) are part of the plan, and enforced.
Cancellation and refunds are covered in the cancellation and refund policy.
5. When a plan ends
Your data is yours. When a plan or trial ends, your phone keeps working as the free app, and in the web app everything stays readable and exportable; editing and sync pause until you subscribe again. We do not hold your data hostage.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service. In particular, do not:
- try to reach another person’s data, or probe, scan or break our security;
- overload the service, or use automated means beyond the app and the web app’s normal use;
- resell, share or reverse-engineer Daybook Cloud, or use it to break the law.
We may suspend an account that does, after warning you where we reasonably can. If we close your account for a reason other than misuse, we will refund the unused part of any paid period and give you time to export.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Daybook Cloud available and your data safe, and keep encrypted backups, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service. We may change or retire features; if we stop offering Daybook Cloud, we will give at least 60 days’ notice by email, time to export everything, and a pro-rata refund of any period paid in advance.
8. Liability
Daybook is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made on figures Daybook got wrong, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or any other law that cannot be contracted out of.
9. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time: uninstall the app, or delete your account from Settings in the web app, which also cancels your subscription.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Tell us first — most problems are fixed by an email tohello@openkhalix.com. Otherwise, the courts with jurisdiction over our registered address decide, without affecting your right to approach a consumer commission where you live.
11. Changes to these terms
We will post changes here with a new date, and email account holders at least 30 days before a change that reduces your rights takes effect.
